GENERAL RULES OF DISCIPLINE

  1. St. Anthony’s school is owned and run by the Catholic religious community. No disrespect should be shown to articles or images of religious and worship proper to that religious group. No other external form of religious worship will be allowed in the school premises. The decision of the Management is final.
  2. Every pupil must try to keep up to the high tone of the school by excelling in good conduct. Let everyone live up to the motto of the school ” Learning Enlightens.”
  3. No act of indiscipline, insubordination and interference in the administration, disrespect to any teacher, and disrespect to any religion or community by any student shall be tolerated and the delinquent may be suspended or expelled from the school.
  4. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience, disrespect to the teachers and authorities, conduct injurious to the moral tone of the school, justify dismissal at any time of the year, unless a student having been admonished, corrects himself/ herself.
  5. Student with infectious sickness/illness may be asked to discontinue, till healed.
  6. Rule of language has to be strictly observed by all without fail. English is the medium of language in the school premises.
  7. The school cannot be held responsible for accidents, small or serious, to pupils during their stay in the school or while taking part in sports, curricular activities within or outside the school premises.
  8. Parent/ Guardians are requested to make proper arrangements for commutation immediately after school hours. Though proper care will be taken to ensure the safety of the children, the school cannot be held responsible if the student leaves the school campus on his/her own accord. It will be appropriate to notify the school office in case of delay from the parents/guardians
  9. Any misbehavior of a serious nature that has become a public scandal is liable for immediate suspension or dismissal, even though it takes place outside the school premises.
  10. A student who fails twice in two consecutive years must be withdrawn. No one will be allowed to repeat the same class for a third time.
  11. For the well-being and smooth running of the school the school authorities may ask the parent/ guardians to withdraw their ward from the school without assigning any reason.
  12. To secure promotion, one must obtain pass marks in all subjects. The marks obtained in the Periodic Assessments and Mid-Term Examination will also be taken into consideration for promotion.
  13. The cultural and curricular activities of the school are conducted through the house system. Hence all students are obliged to take part in them.
  14. Pupils absent from examination without grave reasons will be considered as having failed and will not be re-examined. Promotion may be denied to a pupil if in the opinion of the Principal his/ her attendance is irregular. If a pupil is prevented by illness from appearing for the final examination, the said student may be examined later, if the Principal deems proper on producing the authentic medical certificate.
  15. Every student shall wear only the prescribed uniform whether in winter or summer. On Wednesdays and Saturdays they shall wear sports uniform.
  16. Costly ornaments, money, electronic gadgets and other fancy things are not permitted in the school. If found they will be confiscated. If lost, school does not take the responsibility.
  17. To prevent loss of articles like umbrella, raincoat, sweater, tiffin carrier etc. they should be marked with the name of your child.
  18. The school authorities reserve the right to admit or refuse admission to any child and to revise the rules and regulations at any time if need arises.
  19. A pupil who fails to attain the required standard in all the subjects will not be promoted. Reports of general progress will be given in the progress report. Promotions are granted on the basis of the whole year’s performance. Hence the importance of regularity in attendance and work is a must. Examinations are meant to confirm the result of the year’s work. The decision of the school authorities with regards to promotion is final.
  20. The right to promote/demote a student is reserved to the Principal only.
  21. Any damage done to the school property must be made good by the pupil concerned.
  22. No books, magazines, periodicals, pictures or newspapers, except those allowed by the school, shall be brought or circulated in the school, without the permission of the Principal.
  23. Parcel and letters addressed to the students are subject to inspection by the school authorities.
  24. A student shall be sent home during the school hours only for grave reasons at the written request of the parents/ guardians. A self-declaration in the school logbook, by the authorized person that he/she will take full responsibility for the student is mandatory. Written note is mandatory for any student to step out of the school premises during the school hours.
  25. Every student is obliged to take part in physical, cultural and other school activities. Parents are expected to make their own arrangements for commutation whenever students are asked to come early or remain after school hours for activities.
  26. Girls are not allowed to use nail polish, kazal, mehendi, makeup or grow long nails. Girls with long hair should be in two plaits, folded and tied up [up to Class VIII] and Classes IX and X in single plaint [use only red ribbons/hair bands]
  27. Boys hair should be neatly trimmed. Fancy hair-cuts are not allowed. Clean trim or shave is a must.
  28. Students are strictly forbidden to bring crackers, explosives and other dangerous materials to school.
  29. Students involved in serious acts of disobedience, or misbehaviour unbecoming of a student shall be liable for immediate suspension or dismissal from the school.
  30. Students are forbidden to drive motorized vehicle to and fro from school. Immediate suspension would follow if anyone does not comply with the above rule.
  31. No student should forge the signature of parents or guardians.
  32. No student should enter another class-room or staff room without the permission of the said teacher or staff members.
  33. Students who are found guilty of any forms of mal-practice during the examination shall be debarred from appearing for the consequent examinations. They are liable for serious disciplinary action by the Principal.
  34. Students must be seated in their respective seats allotted by the class/subject teacher all through the duration of the school. During the absence of a teacher, the monitor of the class is responsible for maintaining discipline and notifying the subject teacher/s in case of any misbeaviour from the students.
  35. If a teacher does not reach the class within 5 minutes of the bell, the monitor should inform the Principal immediately.
  36. Students should take care of school property. They should not write or scratch on the desks, chairs, walls or doors of the school nor should they damage the property of others. Penalty will be levied by the school authorities against the defaulters.
  37. Silence is to be maintained in the Washroom all through the duration of its use. Strict action will be taken against defaulters in this regard.
  38. Eating pan or any intoxicating substance is totally forbidden in the school campus. Everyone should help to maintain cleanliness and neatness of the school campus and teach others too.
  39. Students shall directly return home after the school. No student is permitted report to school without school uniform on working day. They are not permitted to go out of school premises without written permission from the Principal during school hours.
  40. Every student should have minimum of 80% attendance for the academic year.
  41. A student who is late or has been absent on the previous day will not be admitted to class, without the permission of the Principal.
  42. To attend social functions or marriages within the family only one day’s leave will be granted as a rule. Prior intimation, permission from the Principal is mandatory.
  43. For leave of absence, a leave letter must be sent to the Principal on the date of return. A note is to be made by the parents/guardians in the school diary.
  44. Repeated or unexplained absence without permission for more than a week renders the student liable to have his/her name stuck-off the register. Re-admission will have to be sought. Tendering a leave letter for any duration of absence is mandatory.
  45. A student returning to school after suffering from an infectious or contagious illness should produce a doctor’s certificate permitting him/her to join class. Even after a fitness certificate by a Medical Practitioner been given, if the school authorities feel that the student should be quarantined for another few days on precautionary grounds the school authorities opinion is to be respected by the parents.
  46. Time to meet the Principal shall be from Monday to Friday between 12.30 PM to 1.30 PM with prior appointment. Teachers could be met with prior permission from the Principal on any day as per the convenience of the said teacher. No school business will be entertained on school holidays and after the school hours.

NOTES TO PARENTS / GUARDIANS

“Your children need your presence more than your present”.

  1. Parents/Guardians are requested to check the Student’s Handbook, Campus Care messages daily and see that lessons and homework assigned for the next day are done. Remarks made in the diary should be signed regularly. Students should be encouraged to be neat and tidy. Untidiness of any form won’t be permitted. You should see that the child carries only the days’ time table requirements and not all the books and materials he/she owns or has.
  2. The Students Record page should be carefully filled up by the parents. Don’t record/enter the wrong or not-in-use mobile numbers.
  3. The Principal is to be contacted, if you observe that your child/ward is not assigned homework for some time, or he/ she is unable to follow the lessons or take down the notes.
  4. Parents/Guardians shall not step into any class room without the permission of the Principal. For any information regarding the school, contact only the office staff at the help desk during office hours. For reasons that are serious in nature, Principal shall be contacted during school hours only.
  5. A new Student’s handbook can be purchased by the students only on a written request from the parents and with the permission of the Principal. A fine and the cost will be charged if the student has lost the following: Student’s Handbook = Rs. 120, ID = Rs. 100, Badge = Rs. 100.
  6. Avoid criticism of teachers and the school particularly in the presence of the students. Only legitimate complaints of serious nature shall be reported to the Principal.
  7. Pupils or parents are not allowed to give any forms of gifts to the teachers of the school without the knowledge and permission of the Principal.
  8. Parents retain their rights and duties in the education of their children, even though they delegate them in part to the school. The support and collaboration of parents/ guardians are in all cases considered indispensable to the success of the work of education carried out by the school. “Every successful person in the world is a hustler one way or another.   9. Hence parents / guardian are requested to co-operate with the school authorities
    • By including in their wards regular and punctual attendance.
    • By providing sufficient number of uniforms (at least two pairs) and sending their wards to school dressed neat and tidy, daily in their proper and full uniform.
    • By seeking that their wards are diligent at their homework and lessons.
    • By insisting on neatness and cleanliness in their textbooks, exercise books and personal appearance.
    • By occasionally meeting the Principal to discuss the progress of their children.
    • By countersigning the Progress Report Card, Examination Answer Sheets and Notice to the parents etc.
  10. Students should come to school neatly and cleanly dressed in full school uniform.
